Karen Lawson, M.D., ABIHM and Patricia Hart, M.D.
Living in a world of information overload, with ‘truths’ continually changing, and expectations continually increasing, we have but to release our own wisdom from the perceived stone in which we are often self-imprisoned. Rarely do we seek opportunities for quiet reflecting, curious exploring, heartfelt connecting, and deep listening to our own inner knowing. Join us with a circle of health professionals to create such exploration—a place for the emergence and nurturing of important questions; a container for creativity, curiosity, and compassion.
Building upon Drs. Lawson and Hart’s experience in holistic and integrative healing, including health coaching, Integral theory, meditation practices, and shamanic frameworks, we will share emerging scientific understandings about the power of mind-body connection and the creative nature of consciousness. Practices of meditation, movement, music, and deep listening will be utilized to help participants access their own font of wisdom. Fostering our own resilience allows us to serve as agents of support and transformation for our patients, clients, and communities. Let us together envision and advance through the healing and empowerment of ourselves and our communities.
Karen Lawson, M.D., ABIHM
Dr. Lawson is Assistant Professor of University of Minnesota’s Family Medicine and Community Health, and Director of Integrative Health Coaching at the Center for Spirituality and Healing. She is a physician, board-certified in both Family Medicine, and Integrative and Holistic Medicine. She was the 2003/5 President of the American Holistic Medical Association, and a founding Diplomat of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine. She has studied for over 2 decades in mind- body techniques (e.g. MBSR™), yoga, dance/movement therapies, nutrition, homeopathy, and shamanic practices. Dr. Lawson founded and directs the MA and graduate certificate programs in Integrative Health and Wellbeing Coaching. Karen is a co-founder and executive leader of the National Consortium for Credentialing Health and Wellness Coaches.

Patricia Hart, M.D.
Patricia Hart practiced nephrology and intensive care medicine for 13 years before her interests in holistic medicine moved her out of nephrology into further studies of consciousness, starting with mindfulness training 20 years ago. Dr. Hart worked with Karen Lawson at the University of Minnesota on one of the first NCCAM educational grants for developing integrative medicine curriculum at the medical school and they trained as co-facilitators of Dr. Lee Lipsenthal’s Finding Balance in a Medical Life program. Anthroposophic medical studies deepened her inquiries into the nature of health and illness. This past year she “retired” from hospital palliative medicine so she could offer an alternative approach to palliative and hospice care in private practice and the nearby hospice facility in North Carolina. Eurythmy and Narrative Medicine nourish her soul.

Venue – Villa Zuccari
The Hotel Villa Zuccari, in the San Luca district of Montefalco, is a large country house. The building’s oldest wing dates back to the late 16th century while the facade and the general layout date back to the 1800’s. Originally, the family’s living quarters were on the large upper floor while the ground floor served as the storage area for the foods harvested from the fields and the administrative office. The villa is surrounded by centuries-old trees and grounds that extend over an area of 40,000 square meters, where you can enjoy the 20 x 10 meter infinity swimming pool. The park, with its cypress-lined path, forest and extremely rare varieties of trees, including the Ginkgo biloba, paulownia, field maple, pink flowering horse-chestnut tree, Italian stone pine, and many more, is completely level, making it an ideal place for walking or jogging. The 980 Meilland rose bushes offer a unique spectacle from May to October. (adapted from Villa Zuccari website)
